Shivr is a voice-first dating application. You record a 30-second voice memo, browse other users' voice memos, and swipe right or left based on how someone sounds — not on a photo. When you both like each other's voice, a match forms, and you can exchange text and voice messages.
By design, photos remain sealed until both you and a match tap to unseal each other's photos. The idea is to let you connect on personality and voice first. Either party can unseal at any time from the chat header; either party can re-seal too.
Voice messages between matched users play twice and then the audio is deleted from our servers. The aim is to keep voice conversations honest and present — what's said in a voice note is for the moment, not a recording to be replayed forever. After the second play (or after 30 days, whichever comes first), the audio is purged and the message renders as "played — gone."
Open the Self tab → Settings → "Delete account". Your account is removed from the live service immediately; remaining cleanup of backups completes within 90 days. You can also request deletion by emailing [email protected] from the address linked to your account. This in-app delete option is provided in compliance with Apple App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1(v).
Inside any match thread, tap the "···" menu and choose Report. The report lands with our moderation team within seconds. We review reports manually and act within 24 hours of receipt. If a user is removed for a serious violation we will also block them from re-registering with the same identifier where technically possible.
Inside a match thread, tap the "···" menu and choose Block. The blocked user is immediately and permanently removed from your Discover feed and your Letters inbox. The block is one-way visible to us; the blocked user is not told they have been blocked.
Shivr needs microphone access to record your 30-second voice bio and to record voice messages you send to your matches. Microphone access is requested only when you tap to record. You may revoke microphone access at any time from iOS Settings → Shivr → Microphone.
When you grant the "While Using the App" location permission, we surface candidates near you on the Discover stack and rank by approximate distance. Your exact coordinates are never shown to other users — only a rounded integer distance. You can decline location and still use the App; you will just see a wider geographical mix of candidates.
Yes. Shivr is free for everyone during launch. We may introduce optional paid features in a later release; those features will always be explicitly opt-in. There are no in-app purchases active in this version.
Your use of Shivr is governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement. No additional Shivr-specific terms apply.
